'Enders return, Corrie backlash, E'dale kiss, 'Hollyoaks' three-hander

By
EastEnders' Max Branning returns to Walford later this month - just as life for his family seems to be spiralling out of control.

While Tanya (Jo Joyner) is behaving erratically after deciding to stop her cancer treatment, Abi and Lauren are running wild - leaving Cora, Jack and Carol wondering what on earth has gone wrong in the family.

Just as Tanya finally decides to tackle Abi's rebellious antics, she receives a shock when Cora hands her a pregnancy test that she has found in Abi's bag.

When Tanya confronts Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald), there's a further surprise as Max (Jake Wood) arrives back unexpectedly - and he's not happy to see that life for the Brannings has descended into chaos in his absenceā€¦

An EastEnders insider commented: "Tanya is shocked when she sees the pregnancy test and it makes matters worse when Max arrives back. Abi tries to explain that the pregnancy test is Lola's, but will they believe her?"

Over on Coronation Street, bad boy Chris faces a backlash after his shock deception has finally been exposed.

Cheryl finally discovers the truth about Chris (Will Thorp) in this Friday's double bill of the soap, learning that his brain tumour has receded and he's been lying over his illness for weeks. Devastated by everything that's happened recently, Cheryl decides to leave the cobbles with Russ.

In the aftermath of Cheryl's departure, Chris holds out hope that he can rebuild his life in Weatherfield, so he asks Owen (Ian Puleston-Davies) for his job back. However, news of Chris's lies has spread and Owen makes it clear that he wants nothing more to do with him.

Blaming Lloyd for everything, Chris lashes out at the cabbie at the pub and a fight nearly breaks out as Lloyd retaliates.

Once the locals have stepped in to prevent a punch-up, Chris faces everyone's fury as Owen repeats that he's sacked, Jason declares that he wants Chris out of the flat and Stella announces that he's barred. Will Chris realise that there's nothing left for him on the cobbles?

Meanwhile, Hollyoaks will soon conclude its long-running rape storyline in a special three-hander episode focusing entirely on the characters of Jacqui, Gilly and Rhys.

Although Gilly (Anthony Quinlan) was found not guilty of rape in his trial earlier this year, exactly what happened between him and Jacqui on Valentine's night has always remained a mystery.

As the special episode begins, Jacqui (Claire Cooper) and Rhys (Andrew Moss) receive a shock as a confused Gilly arrives at their door unexpectedly, wanting to talk.

Sensing that Gilly is seeking forgiveness, Jacqui agrees to let him in and a serious, heartwrenching discussion follows in emotional scenes. Can Jacqui and Rhys make Gilly realise what he did all those months ago?

When she arrives back from holiday, Julia (Diane Keen) is unsettled to see that her house isn't as she left it - with a lamp turned on, glasses out of place and a door open that was previously closed.

Julia then spots empty wine bottles in the recycling and realises that Patrick has been around with his mistress in her absence.

Furious that Patrick is still cheating on Sally, Julia calls him up and gives him a piece of her mind.

Patrick quickly comes over and starts making excuses, before insisting that his affair doesn't mean anything. Will Julia carry on keeping quiet over her son's antics?
