Janine (Charlie Brooks) finds herself rejected by her family in the coming days as the strict terms of her loan to Pat lead to a backlash. When Pat (Pam St Clement) makes it clear that she isn't welcome at the Butchers' Christmas lunch, Janine is sad to be frozen out by her loved ones.
Feeling like an outcast, Janine puts on a brave face on Christmas Day as she tells Michael (Steve John Shepherd) that she isn't a fan of the festive season anyway. However, she's soon thrilled when Michael opens the door to Butcher's Joints and reveals fairy lights, a decorated Christmas tree, presents and champagne.

Despite the temporary festive cheer, Janine is back to her vicious ways later in the week as she puts pressure on Pat to make a planned payment on time.
With Pat's health taking a turn for the worse, Bianca (Patsy Palmer) rants at Janine for bullying the Albert Square matriarch while she's vulnerable.
However, a sceptical Janine decides that Pat isn't as weak as she's claiming, and instead brings the repayment deadline forward as punishment for Bianca's outburst!

As New Year approaches towards the end of the week, Janine starts to behave strangely as she storms out of Tommy's first birthday party. Is the stress of being rejected by her loved ones getting to her, or is she more concerned about something else altogether?
