Roxy (Rita Simons) comes to the shocking realisation that she's in love with Alfie (Shane Richie) when the Queen Vic landlord helps her through an emotional day in an upcoming episode.
The latest romance twist begins when Roxy becomes an unexpected arrival at Albert Square's reinstated girls-only book club at Tanya's house, where she causes a stir by putting her foot in it.
When Roxy comments on how Tanya's illness adversely affected her relationship with Max, shrewd Cora (Ann Mitchell) immediately becomes suspicious - wondering how the blonde would know about this.
Later, Cora confronts Roxy and Max (Jake Wood) - determined to find out whether her daughter has been betrayed by the pair.
Eager not to cause any trouble, Roxy tells Cora that she was responsible for the whole thing - declaring that she made a move on Max but he stayed loyal to Tanya (Jo Joyner) by rejecting her advances.
Following the awkward encounter, Roxy heads back to The Vic and confides in Alfie - getting emotional as she confesses that she nearly had an affair with an unavailable man.
As the pair have a heart-to-heart, Alfie pulls Roxy into a hug and she suddenly realises that the right man has been under her nose all along - it's Alfie! Will she ever make her feelings known, and if she does, how will married Alfie react?
EastEnders airs these scenes on Tuesday, April 3 at 7.30pm on BBC One.
