'EastEnders': On set with Chucky Venn - video

EastEnders star Chucky Venn has become the latest cast member to record an on-set video for the soap's official website.

The actor, who has been appearing in Walford since January, reflected on joining the BBC show as Ray Dixon and his on-screen partnership with Tameka Empson (Kim Fox).

Venn commented: "EastEnders is a fraternity, it's an institution. For me, I feel privileged, and for my children… I've worked on big films, I've worked with some of the biggest actors… but to work on this show, for my kids, it's like the biggest thing to them!"

Of Empson, he added: "Tameka is a bundle of almost limitless energy. She is just this crazy, bubbly girl… I knew that I was going to be able to bounce with her, but I just didn't realise how quick and how much energy she was going to have.

"She's always thinking - she's such a sharp thinker and she's always trying to bring something to a scene. I'm similar, but obviously in terms of the comedic element, that's more her forté, so I kind of in a way underestimated that. Working with her every day, you've got to be on your toes!"

EastEnders continues on Thursday (May 31) at 7.30pm on BBC One.
