The suspects in the storyline were narrowed down to Branning brothers Derek, Jack and Max last month, and it seems that one of them is unwilling to let go of his secret romance with Kat (Jessie Wallace).
Next week's episodes show that Kat's relationship with husband Alfie (Shane Richie) seems to be finally getting back on track following the fallout from her affair. Pleased with how things are going, Kat plans a romantic night out with Alfie to prove how much she loves him.
When the pair's big date night arrives, there is a slight hitch as the three Branning brothers arrive for a planned poker game with Alfie, which he had completely forgotten about.
Alfie confirms that he won't be able to take part as he is putting Kat first, but he allows Derek (Jamie Foreman), Jack (Scott Maslen) and Max (Jake Wood) to have their game at the pub anyway.
Upstairs in the kitchen, the Branning trio spot a pawn note for an engagement ring pinned on the notice board, so Alfie is forced to explain how Kat sold her mother's ring to help solve their problems with Phil earlier this month.

The Moons enjoy a perfect evening together and it seems as if they have reached a turning point following their recent troubles.

Back at the pub later, however, Kat is startled when she finds an envelope addressed to her which contains her mother's engagement ring.
One of the Brannings has gone to the pawn shop and bought back the item for her, but which one of them has gone to so much trouble? And will Kat be impressed?
EastEnders airs these scenes on Friday, November 9 at 8pm on BBC One.
