'EastEnders' Cora reveals her biggest secret - preview

By
Cora Cross has a huge confession to make as she opens up about her past on EastEnders next week.

The charity shop worker sparks concern among her loved ones as she starts behaving strangely in the coming days, and Patrick Trueman is her choice of confidante when she is unable to keep the truth to herself for any longer.

Patrick is intrigued when Cora (Ann Mitchell) appears to be in a downbeat mood on November 12, but the pieces of the puzzle start to fall together when she bakes a cake to mark the birthday of her first-born daughter Ava.

A distraught Cora is comforted by Patrick (Rudolph Walker) as she explains that she gave birth to Ava exactly 48 years ago.

Earlier this year, Cora told Tanya that Ava died shortly after being born, but as her conversation with Patrick progresses, it's clear that she was lying.

Cora informs Patrick that Ava didn't die at all - she put the newborn up for adoption as that was the way it had to be. Patrick is shellshocked to realise that Cora has another daughter out there, now known as Ava Hartman.

In the days that follow, Cora regrets being so candid with Patrick and shuts down any further discussion on the matter - but Tanya is worried over her mother's welfare as it's clear that she still has something on her mind.

Although he is reluctant to betray Cora's confidence, Patrick ultimately tells Tanya the truth about why her mum is struggling so much. How will Tanya react when she hears that Ava is still alive?

EastEnders airs these scenes next week on BBC One, while actress Clare Perkins will make her first appearance as Ava on November 20. Get the Inside Soap magazine on your iPhone or iPad
