New EastEnders pictures have been released showing the build-up to Shirley Carter's disappearance.

Shirley (Linda Henry) does a vanishing act in next week's big episodes after getting on the wrong side of dangerous Carl White (Daniel Coonan).

In the build-up to the shock storyline twist, Shirley tells everyone that she's leaving Walford to start a new life in Greece, which will be funded with thousands of pounds that she has stolen from ex-lover Phil Mitchell's safe.

After announcing her plans, Shirley takes time to say goodbye to all of her loved ones and even has a leaving party in the Queen Vic.

However, as Shirley is busy preparing to leave, she becomes deeply suspicious of Carl when she finds him paying visits to Phil in hospital - seemingly desperate to know how much he remembers about their suspicious car crash.

Shirley also discovers that Ian Beale is in debt to Carl, which would explain why he has suddenly told the police that he saw Max Branning tampering with Carl's brakes.

When Shirley starts to put the pieces of the puzzle together, she seems close to figuring out that the crash was Carl's way of getting rid of Max and Phil in one go.
