Jane throws Ian out
Aired Tuesday, Dec 23 2008 at 19:30 GMT on BBC One

Ian's Scrooge routine continues as he sends carol singers away empty-handed, and Jane's becoming increasingly frustrated by his mood. When Ian moans about the cost of festive decorations, Jane's mum Linda tells her to stand up to Ian a little more. Jane's day goes from bad to worse when she visits Tanya in prison. Tanya's stunned at Jane letting Lauren live with Max. On Jane's return to the Square, she's even more determined to celebrate Christmas in style.

At the Council's Christmas party at R&R, Ian inspects Masood's catering and is secretly impressed by their efforts. Suddenly, Jane bursts in on the festivities and confronts Ian over his £2,000 payment to Masala Masood - Ian is forced to come clean that he's given them a loan. Jane's livid - the Beales are living on a shoe string because of Ian's secret business venture. Fuming, she throws curry on him and evicts him from the house.

Meanwhile, Phil's been biding his time in asking Suzy about her 'phantom pregnancy'. She distracts him when she offers to take Ben shopping on Oxford Street. When she returns, Phil can't believe how much they've spent. Shirley urges Phil to confront Suzy over the news, but he's adamant that she wouldn't make something like that up.

Phil heads home and finds Suzy putting up the Christmas decorations. He asks her about her lack of morning sickness and eventually caves in, confronting her over Shirley's accusations. He pulls a box of tampons out of Suzy's bag, wanting answers. Suzy quickly tells him that she's had a miscarriage. Armed with the 'truth', Phil tells Shirley to stay away from him and Suzy from now on.

Elsewhere, Danielle gets frisky with a guy at R&R; Archie tells Roxy she's proud of her; Ronnie gets the wrong end of the stick with Jack; Janine decides to stay in Walford and asks Ronnie for a job at the club; and Sean announces that he and Roxy are moving to Dagenham.
