Inside the house, DI Kelly reveals that Denise's phone has been found in the canal, along with a body - and that they need somebody to formally identify it. Lucas agrees to go with them. Chelsea decides to go too but at the last minute, Chelsea backs out of walking into the room. Alone, Lucas heads into the viewing room and confirms that the corpse is that of Denise. Outside, Chelsea's inconsolable.
Meanwhile, Phil wants to leave with Ben but Shirley manages to persuade him to head over to The Vic for Peggy's announcement. There, Peggy reveals that Ronnie and Jack are engaged. Back at home, Ben pleads with Phil to let him serve his time in juvenile detention but Phil's steadfast. With Shirley supposedly in the dark about his plan, Phil lies that he's taking Ben and Louise to the cinema. Knowing that he's not telling the truth, Shirley heads outside, finds a note and heads to The Vic. As Phil, Ben and Louise get into the car, they're about to drive away - but Peggy's standing in their way.
Elsewhere, Darren's still living at the Car Lot; the Beales and Masoods argue over who'll buy Christian's shares in Masala Queen; Max agrees to let Darren stay at his house for a while; Ian makes a successful offer; Carol demands that Darren pay a month's rent upfront but he can't bring himself to use baby George's maintenance money; Syed admits to Christian that he lied about the Masoods having a loan as he knew Ian would pay through the nose for the shares in the business; and Carol agrees to let Darren stay anyway as he put his son first.
