Kat can't quite believe it as Alfie explains the story may provide them with the chance of winning £1,000 in a competition. Later, Alfie smooth talks Dot and Mo into joining him at The Vic for when the reporter arrives, to give his story more credibility. The reporter is impressed, especially when Michael presents her with 'proof' - a piece of the doodlebug. That night, Kat confronts Michael in private, referring to a night that they slept together. She says that it didn't mean anything and he should leave Walford. Michael demands one good reason why he should go, and the penny drops when he realises Kat is having his baby…
Meanwhile, a troubled Billy reads a letter from the police. Billy tells Phil that the letter is from the Child Abuse Team, investigating an old case that took place in the children's home he grew up in. Billy wants nothing to do with it, so Phil rips the letter into pieces and advises him to ignore it. Billy's mood brightens when Jack asks him to help in the club that night. While there, Billy takes his role very seriously, developing high hopes for a full-time position. He seems to be doing well, but things turn ugly when he overreacts and throws a group of lads out when they make rude gestures at Jean. Alerted by the commotion, a disappointed Jack sends Billy home. Jean invites a forlorn Billy over for a cup of tea and, after talking for a while, they unexpectedly kiss.
Elsewhere, Carol clashes with Whitney, Mercy and Lauren over who should plan Billie's birthday party, but when Bianca advises Carol to stop making Billie the most important thing in her life, she decides to call Lewis.
