Kat discovers that she is pregnant

Kat receives a phone call which appears to upset her and she remains in a distant mood all day. Her strange behaviour continues as Alfie informs Kat that Shenice is staying in Walford and she barely seems to take in what he's said. Sensing that something is wrong, Jean starts asking Kat questions but she refuses to open up, partly due to the fact that Alfie is distracted with his excitement over their future with Shenice. Later, however, Kat admits that she thinks things have moved too quickly - especially as she had no say in the decision that Shenice is now staying at The Vic. Towards the end of the day, she contacts Yusef and expresses confusion over his earlier phone call - asking how it's possible that her blood test results show she is pregnant…

Meanwhile, Mandy decides to cause some mischief by drawing a beard on Ian while he is sleeping. Later, Lola turns up and demands that Ian pays her even though he hasn't opened up the chip shop. Mandy is shocked by Lola's rude behaviour, while Ian isn't impressed either and sacks her on the spot. Ian decides to stay at home for the day and continues to bond with Mandy, but she starts taking her wild behaviour too far by wearing Lucy's clothes from her old bedroom and hiding Ian's phone in a jelly. When Ian spots the drawn-on beard, it's the final straw and he gives Mandy her marching orders. The businessman is also later forced to give Lola her job back when she threatens to reveal who's been staying with him.

Elsewhere, Janine has started moving some expensive new purchases into Number 27, but her war with Phil at the club continues as she discovers that he's hired Billy and Lola just to annoy her. Wanting Janine to pull her weight more, Phil locks her in the office and forces her to do a stock take. However, Janine tries to stay one step ahead by smashing the bottles and setting off the fire alarm to cause chaos for Phil. Later, Michael visits the club, feeling downbeat after learning that Tyler wants to pull out of a boxing match that he's arranged for him. Michael and Janine start exchanging harsh words and comment on how lonely the other must be. However, there's a surprise in store as Janine throws herself at Michael and they kiss passionately.

Also today, Jodie announces that she wants Abi, Poppy and Lauren to be her bridesmaids; Jean asks for Ian's help in pulling strings at the school so that Shenice can get a place as soon as possible; Darren is desperate to raise money for the wedding so secretly pockets £500 of the profits from a car he's sold at the lot; while Vanessa continues with her attempts to get close to Eddie.
