Phil vows to reunite with Sharon

With just one day to go before Lexi's christening, a grumpy Phil tells Lola that Cora and Jay can be the youngster's godparents after all. Sharon then supports Phil when he explains that Peggy won't be coming tomorrow because Sharon is going to be there. Although Phil is grateful for Sharon's kindness, he is uneasy about his growing feelings towards her.

Soon afterwards, Lola rushes in and announces that Lexi has a rash. Phil rushes off to take Lexi to a doctor and later returns with the news that she had an allergic reaction. He furiously rebukes Lola for using 'fancy coconut cream' on a 5-month old baby, but everyone is stunned by his overreaction.

In the aftermath of the row, Jack is left questioning why Sharon can't see Phil for the bully he is. At the New Year countdown later, it seems that Jack's problems with the Albert Square hardman are far from over when Phil shares his resolution with him - this time next year, Sharon will be his…

Meanwhile, Zainab goes ahead with plans for an alcohol-free New Year party, blissfully unaware that AJ's cherryade has vodka in it. Having consumed lots of it, Ayesha soon finds herself throwing up. Later, Masood tells a delighted Zainab that they're going to get married on Valentine's Day.

Elsewhere, Bianca finally tells Carol that Derek secretly kept his stash of dodgy gear, leaving behind a difficult situation for her. Carol is pleased that Bianca hasn't been tempted to sell any of the goods herself, and she also warns Liam against following in Derek's footsteps. Liam swears that he doesn't know where the loot is now, but it seems that his conscience has been pricked when he texts his accomplice and admits that he wants out.

Later, as Auld Lang Syne rings out across the Square, a solitary figure emerges from the shadows, deletes Liam's text and opens Derek's lock box…

Also today, as Kat collects Tommy from The Vic, she is distraught to hear Alfie inviting Roxy and Amy to move in with him.
