Derek's funeral day arrives

It's the day of Derek's funeral and the Branning family are in a sombre mood. Jack and Max order Joey to be respectful and attend the service, but it's clear that he is in turmoil over his unresolved feelings about his father.

Albert Square falls silent when Derek's hearse pulls up outside Number 23, but Carol is in for a shock when Poppy hands her a letter addressed to her that came to light when Derek's things were moved. Carol immediately runs back into the house, slamming the door behind her.

Meanwhile, Lauren tries to justify her relationship with Joey when she bumps into Lucy at the launderette. Bitter words are exchanged between the pair, but Lauren tries to tell the full story by revealing how Joey took the blame for the car crash because she had been drinking.

This revelation is emotive territory for Lucy and she heads off towards the police station with Lauren hot on her heels…
