Garry wakes to find Shirley throwing his belongings out of her window – Deano's coming home today and she wants him to have his space. Garry isn't the only person Shirley wants out from under her feet. Heather's surprised when Shirley asks her to pack her bags – she doesn't want to go back to her mum, Queenie's. But Shirley's got a plan and suggests Heather move in with Minty.
Later, as Shirley heads out to collect Deano from the prison, Deano actually breaks in to Shirley's flat. He's swigging heavily from a bottle of vodka and it's clear that he's changed. Shirley returns home and finds Deano on the sofa. He's abusive and arrogant towards her. The doorbell rings and it's an escort. Deano wants Shirley to pay her. She reluctantly does so and leaves them to it.
Deano's walking past Booty and he sees Chelsea. She tries to reach out to him and offer him support but he doesn't want to know. He shouts at her and shows her his arms – they're a mess of old scars, fag burns and cuts. Chelsea soon realises the extent of Deano's torment in prison and agrees to let him carry on in his own way. An incident in the pub leaves Shirley furious with Deano. She chases after him, but just what difference has a stint in prison made to Deano?
Elsewhere, Stacey's happy to have some seemingly nice stock for the stall; Clare looks after baby Oscar and ends up letting Max take him, not realising the stalemate between him and Tanya; Ian is happy about the possible catering contract that he's got lined up until he realises that Edward, the client, is gay; and Phil and Ian realise they have something in common - Christian is annoying them both in their own homes!
