643: 'Bail Me Out'

D.S. Max Carter, along with D.C.’s Grace Dasari and Jacob Banks patiently observe drug dealer, Alan Kirby about to make a deal. They watch as Alan hands a package to a young man who’s face is hidden by a hoodie.

The officers slowly approach the pair and as Alan catches sight of them, he attempts to run, but is quickly handcuffed by Grace. Banksy and Max chase after the hoodie, who jumps into a car where a female passenger is seated. P.C.s Millie Brown and Mel Ryder are in a patrol car when they get the shout out about the stolen vehicle and chase after the suspect.

Consumed by the chase, Mel takes a sharp turn while a surprised cyclist pulls out and falls in front of the car. After checking the cyclist is OK, the officers jump back into the car and discover the suspect has crashed his vehicle, leaving the badly injured passenger behind.

Max and Banksy finally catch sight of the suspect and chase him to a bail hostel where they have the door slammed in their faces. Once inside, they realise how complicated their job is about to become when they are faced with not one, but three young suspects - Ronnie Mason, Josef Altin and Douane Howe…

While Banksy questions the hostel warden, Anne Cummings, P.C. Beth Green and Mel search the bins and discover the suspects discarded clothes. Back at the station, D.I. Samantha Nixon briefs her team: Alan is a drug dealer and all the evidence suggests that the suspect he met earlier is his drugs runner.

After stealing a car and leaving a young woman’s life hanging in the balance, the charges are even more serious. All three suspects from the hostel are brought into the station and different tactics are employed to interview them. While Ronnie and Peter appear confident and offer alibis, Douane is tense and nervous.

After a long and frustrating day, Douane shocks Grace and Banksy by confessing to being Alan’s drug runner and stealing the car, but Grace is convinced he’s lying…
