636: 'Loved and Lost'

Sergeant Stone and PC Leon Taylor respond to a call from Chris Cooper who tells the officers that his fifteen-year-old daughter, Becky, has gone missing. Chris explains that his wife died a year ago and he looks after Becky and her sister, Natasha, alone.

Later, Stone and Leon are called to an alleyway where they are stunned to find Becky, unconscious and bloodied. Leon freezes when he sees her figure slumped on the ground and Stone forces him to snap out of it. Becky is taken to hospital and Stone and Leon begin their investigation by heading to a bar that Becky was in the previous night.

The barman, Dave Patterson remembers seeing her, but remains vague. The officer’s suspicions are heightened when they check CCTV which shows Becky and Dave having a blazing row before Becky storms out and Dave follows.

Dave is arrested and brought into the station for questioning where he finally admits that he had been having a relationship with Becky, who he thought was 19. However, he had seen her in her school uniform and realised her true age. He tried to break up with her at the bar, sending her into a rage, but swears he had nothing to do with the attack.

As the investigation continues, Stone and Leon are surprised when they realise the suspect is someone a lot closer to home – Becky’s sister. As they attempt to question her, she escapes and runs away, with the officers hot on her trail. The case is eventually resolved but it forces Leon to face some demons from his past.
