'Desperate' exec discusses new love interest

Desperate Housewives producer Bob Daily has spoken out about the new male character in the show.

At the end of season four, the episode flashed forward to five years in the future and Susan (Teri Hatcher) returned home to a new love interest.

Daily confirmed that the new character's name is Jackson and that he will be played by Gale Harold, reports The Sun.

He also said the reason behind Susan's split from long-term partner Mike (James Denton) will be explained during the fifth series.

Speaking about Mike and Susan's relationship, Daily said: "They're sort of the heart and soul of the show, with that on-again/off-again romance.

"Who knows what will happen in the next couple of years?"
