Note: The light summary of this article provides only gentle teasers as to what happens in this episode, and is suitable for reading before viewing. The full summary serves as a more detailed recap of the episode.
Light Summary: A series of flashbacks take us back to moving-in day on Wisteria Lane for Bree, Susan, Gaby and Lynette, and to how Mary Alice Young brought them all together. Meanwhile, Bree gets some frightening news, Susan moves into a trailer, Lynette discovers Tom's secret and all is not well in the house of Solis, on the two-hour Second-Season finale of Desperate Housewives.

Flashback: Melanie Foster was the cause of the last move. Melanie urges Matthew to meet her at the lumber yard later that day. Caleb, however, takes it upon himself to meet her there instead. Caleb doesn't take too kindly to rejection and hits her over the head with a baton of wood. He runs away fearing the consequences.
Before Betty can leave, however, she realises it's not that easy to slip away in the middle of the night.
Susan introduces Julie to their new home for the time being – a motor home. Tom asks Susan if she's seen Lynette who's taking a holiday break but Susan pleads ignorant to her whereabouts.

Bree continues her stint in the psychiatric unit and bumps into Susan's dentist friend Orson. The red head struggles with her treatment and fails to co-operate with her psychiatrist.
After her golfing lesson, Gabrielle receives some shocking news when she sees a news report on the television suggesting that Carlos is dead. She rushes home to tell Xiao-Mei, who's oblivious to anything that's happened.
Betty is questioned at the police station and asked about the jacket which covered Melanie Foster after she was killed. Realisation hits home for the troubled mother; the jacket's not Caleb's - it's Matthew's.
Flashback: Matthew arrives at the lumber yard late to find Melanie on the floor battered and bruised with cuts on her face. Matthew's still adamant he wants to break up with her. She threatens to tell the police about Caleb attacking her. In anger, Matthew lashes out at Melanie and delivers the finishing blow, killing her outright. He places his coat over her and runs off into the night.

Karl sees Mike wandering in to a jeweler and confronts him about his intentions with Susan. Later, Karl reveals to Susan and Julie that he's bought them another house on Wisteria Lane. Susan realises who she wants in her life and finally decides to cut her ties with Karl. Will Mike and Susan's relationship work out for the best?
Zach pays a visit to Noah Taylor asking for his inheritance money early in order to help Paul. Noah brushes him off and threatens to cut him out of his will. Zach, however, isn't taking any of it and takes drastic measures of his own… To what extent will Zach go to get what's his? And will Zach decide to help his step-father in his time of need?

Bree receives a phone call from Betty warning her about Matthew. Unfortunately for Bree, those in charge of her residence are unwilling to let her out of their sight. She makes every effort to break out of the institution and comes to the conclusion that the only way of moving forward is to co-operate. What does Bree have up her sleeve? More importantly, will she escape in time to save her daughter from Matthew Applewhite?
