Marissa's 14-year-old sister Kaitlin returns to Newport during her winter break from an exclusive Montecito boarding school. She is surprised to learn how things have changed during her absence, including their new living quarters.
Johnny continues to lie to Marissa, telling her that he will shortly be leaving for a surf trip. Spotting the tension between the pair, Kaitlin takes Johnny aside and makes it clear that, unlike her sister, she is available.
Veronica Townsend, a Newpsie who spoke out against Marissa at the board meeting (and mother of Taylor), asks Kirsten to set her up on a date with Dr. Roberts. Kirsten refuses but Veronica threatens to make things difficult for Marissa at Harbor unless she makes it happen...
Justin, one of Kaitlin's school friends, shows up at the Cohens' looking for her urgently. Kaitlin tells Ryan that Justin has been harrassing her but Justin claims that Kaitlin had stolen money from his brother. Who is telling the truth and, more importantly, what will the consequences be when the truth outs?
