Corrie prepares for dramatic fight scene

Coronation Street producers have decided to refit the Rovers Return set with stunt props for a dramatic new fight scene.

Bosses are making extensive preparations for an episode which will see barmaid Becky Grainger, played by Katherine Kelly, losing her cool after being dumped by her boyfriend Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas).

According to The Sun, Becky grabs Jason by the throat after he announces plans to reunite with his ex-lover Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) in Italy.

"Bar fittings will all be replaced with breakaway look-a-likes," an insider told the newspaper. "Any sharp edges or hard surfaces around the fight area are to be padded or removed."

A nurse and expert stunt coordinator will also be on set for the scene, which will air later this year on the ITV1 soap.

The source added: "We don't want anyone getting hurt but we do want the scenes to be eye-poppingly realistic. It's all going to look like a movie sequence."
