Actress Helen Flanagan, who plays Rosie Webster in the ITV soap, could be heard screaming and shouting "help me, please get me out".
Concerned homeowners living nearby thought the pleas for help were real and telephoned 999, prompting police cars to race to the location.
However, cast and crew were shooting scenes at John Stape's (Graeme Hawley) newly-inherited farmhouse, where it is revealed that the lovelorn taxi driver has been holding Rosie Webster (Helen Flanagan) captive for a number of weeks.
A Coronation Street spokesman confirmed the incident, adding: "We apologise to anyone unduly concerned. Due to the nature of the scenes, which are extremely dramatic, they did require Helen to scream very loudly."
The scenes are due to air at the end of next month.
