Jim Bowen hoping for Corrie part
Former Bullseye host Jim Bowen has announced that he would like to make an appearance in Coronation Street.

The 71-year-old TV star revealed that he dreams of acting alongside Barbara Knox (Rita Sullivan) in a musical storyline.

"I'd like to go in Corrie. There were rumours I was scheduled to be Gail's father, but some other lucky gentleman got it," Bowen told The Sun.

"But I would have to be an elderly gentleman. I'd be the regular who sat in the corner of the Rovers sipping a few pints who the locals come to for advice - it would be a fairly low pressure gig.

"Rita was a singer in a band, I play the trumpet so perhaps Rita and I could do a little double act. She hasn't had a love interest for a while. I'd be quite happy to step in and escort her away from Norris. She must be fed up with him by now."

Bowen was said to be in talks with the ITV1 soap in September last year, but the rumours were quickly dismissed as "complete nonsense".
