Corrie plot to mirror actor's booze shame
Chris Gascoyne has been given a Coronation Street plot which mirrors his own drink-driving shame, according to a report.

The actor, who is returning to his role as Peter Barlow on the ITV1 soap, was banned from driving in January after being caught behind the wheel while over the legal alcohol limit.

Now Peter, who can be seen back on the cobbles in Wednesday's episode, will try to use his car while drunk in a forthcoming Christmas storyline. He is prevented from breaking the law when his father Ken (William Roache) and his son's teacher step in.

An insider told The Sun: "There were a few eyebrows raised when people realised Chris's character would be seen in such a way. But he's a professional and will just get on with turning in a great performance for Peter Barlow."

Gascoyne was last seen on-screen in 2007, when Peter decided to leave Weatherfield for a new life in Portsmouth with his nephew Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson).
