Corrie's Becky signs 'until at least 2011'

Coronation Street actress Katherine Kelly has reportedly signed an extended contract with the soap which will see her on screen until at least 2011.

Producers have allegedly handed the 29-year-old, who plays brash Becky Granger in the Weatherfield soap, a special deal to secure her commitment to the ITV show beyond its 50th anniversary celebrations next year.

A source told the Daily Record: "Quite simply, Kathy is the golden girl around the place."

They added: "The bosses drool over her character because the response from the viewers has been absolutely amazing."

She first appeared in the Manchester-based soap in February 2006 and quickly forged a close friendship with odd couple Roy and Hayley Cropper (David Neilson and Julie Hesmondhalgh). Last year, she became the Rovers Returns' 50th barmaid.
