The ITV1 soap's longest-running actor Bill Roache (Ken Barlow) was left reeling following the sudden death of his wife Sara last month, while Kym Marsh (Michelle Connor) suffered the sad loss of her premature baby Archie just days later.
Whittaker, who plays Sally Webster on the programme, has now confirmed that her colleagues have found peace and are looking to the future.
Speaking to ITN, she explained: "We've had a bad few weeks within the cast, but we're a strong cast and everyone gets on really well and I think we've turned a corner, so hopefully it's all going to be good from now on.
"Next year we celebrate our 50th anniversary, so it's onwards and upwards from here."
Filming for Coronation Street was suspended last month to allow the cast and crew to attend Sara's funeral.
Whittaker added: "Everybody is affected when something sad happens to one of the cast in their personal life, but we're a strong cast and we have been together a long time.
"I've known Bill for many, many years and we've all rallied around him, but he is strong and he has a strong faith so he's doing really well, as is Kym, she's doing really well too."
