Sachs was 'scared' over Corrie part
Andrew Sachs has admitted that he nearly turned down the chance to star in Coronation Street.

The veteran actor signed up to play Norris Cole's estranged half-brother Ramsay Clegg on the ITV1 soap at the beginning of the year.

However, speaking to the Sunday Mirror, Sachs revealed: "I nearly turned them down because I was too scared. I said to my wife that I didn't think I could do it. Apparently there is very little rehearsal time and I said I wasn't sure I liked the part anyway.

"She read it and then she made me do it. She said: 'Of course you must do it. Face the challenge. How would you feel if you didn't do it and somebody else did?'"

He added: "I took her advice and accepted the part and now I'm delighted. I got such a nice welcome from the rest of the cast when I joined and I'm enjoying every minute."

Ramsay's arrival sparks immediate conflict in Weatherfield - with Norris (Malcolm Hebden) telling his brother that he is not welcome.

Sachs confirmed: "You see him trying so hard and Norris just growing more and more infuriated and refusing to accept him as a brother."
