Corrie boss hints at Tony's undoing

In October, murderous Tony - played by Gray O'Brien - killed his wife Carla's (Alison King) brother-in-law after discovering that she was having an affair with him.
Meanwhile, at Christmas, Tony threatened to kill pensioner Jed Stone (Kenneth Cope) when he blackmailed Tony after rumbling his coverup of Liam's murder.
Tony eventually cracked under the pressure and eventually confessed to Carla that he murdered Liam out of his love for her. Unable to deal with the revelation, Carla sped off in a car out of Weatherfield as Alison King temporarily departed for maternity leave.
Since her exit, new factory boss Luke Strong (Craig Kelly) has ruffled Tony's feathers, with no concrete explanation as to his connection with Carla.
With Carla due to return from maternity leave in the autumn and Tony finding himself drawn closer to Liam's widow Maria Connor (Samia Smith), it's only a matter of time before Tony's world comes crashing down around him.
Speaking exclusively to DS, Corrie's leading producer Kim Crowther said: "What I'd say about the Tony story is that the way in which he's 'undone' isn't from any of the players you'd expect. It's a very surprising turn of events, which bring about Tony's downfall."
She continued: "I think everyone thinks it'll happen as soon as Carla returns, but it doesn't. I've just come out of long-term and there's a really exciting new direction for Tony's story over the autumn going into the winter."
