Flanagan: 'Rosie loves power and money'

Coronation Street actress Helen Flanagan has explained that her Weatherfield character thrives on power and money.

The 19-year-old, who plays feisty Rosie Webster in the Manchester serial, will soon become embroiled in a relationship with Underworld boss Luke Strong (Craig Kelly) when he discovers that her bank balance has increased to the tune of £150,000 following a generous 'compensation payout' from John Stape (Graeme Hawley).

After she attempted to seduce former factory owner Liam Connor (Rob James-Collier) and current murderous co-owner Tony Gordon (Gray O'Brien), Luke will become the first of Rosie's employers to succumb to her charms.

Speaking to DS, Flanagan said: "I think she's attracted to the power and money. Rosie's knows that she can use her womanly wiles to get what she wants. In the long run, she wants a life away from Weatherfield. She wants to be rich when she's older and aspires to be like Carla - gorgeous, sexy and wearing designer clothes."

She joked: "Thinking about it, Rosie's actually tried it on with all of her bosses! They've all knocked her back apart from Luke and now she's thinking: 'I've finally got one!'"
