Whittaker: 'I don't want Sally to ever find out'

Coronation Street actress Sally Whittaker has said that she hopes her character never discovers the truth about her screen husband Kevin's affair with Molly.

Whittaker's character, unassuming knicker stitcher Sally Webster, is completely oblivious to the fact that Kevin (Michael Le Vell) is playing away from home with his best friend and business partner's wife Molly Dobbs (Vicky Binns).

When asked about the affair plot, Whittaker joked: "What affair?! I just don't believe Kevin would ever do that. I'm not watching it, so then I don't know. I'm oblivious."

Speaking exclusively to DS at the launch of this year's Inside Soap Awards, she said: "To be honest, I'm hoping Sally never finds out and I'm serious about that. I really don't want Sally to find out because so much has happend to Sally and Kevin that I think it would be better if she never, ever finds out."

She added: "It'd always be something that the viewer knows, but Sally doesn't know and the viewers have one up on her."
