The 25-year-old played hairdresser Candice Stowe for six years before bowing out of the ITV1 show to pursue new projects in 2005.
Sanderson has now confirmed that she is dreaming up storylines for a possible Weatherfield comeback in the future.
She told the Daily Star Sunday: "I think Candice will have surely pulled a footballer by now and be living the high life. Then a fall from grace could make a good return."
Candice was last seen leaving Manchester after landing a job as a stylist for Status Quo on tour.
Sanderson was originally tipped to sign a new contract with the programme in June 2007, but the plans were later scrapped after filming times "didn't work out".
The actress, who currently appears in Heartbeat, split from her former soap co-star Danny Young (Warren Baldwin) earlier this year.
