Published Wednesday, Aug 12 2009, 00:02 BST | By Kris Green
David Platt's viciously attacked by a mystery assailant on Coronation Street at the end of next week, much to the shock of his mother Gail (Helen Worth).
Having rubbed Gail's lover Joe (Reece Dinsdale) up the wrong way earlier in the day as well as his ex-girlfriend Tina's (Michelle Keegan) new partner Jason (Ryan Thomas), David still decides to head out alone that night and is jumped as he walks home past his gran Audrey's (Sue Nicholls) salon.
Returning to the house, Gail hears the front door click and when nobody walks into the living room, she's stunned to find her son slumped against the wall in the porch in a bruised and battered state.
Who attacked David? All will be revealed in the final week of the month.
