McAlpine: 'Corrie storyline is draining'
Coronation Street star Jennie McAlpine has admitted that she is finding her emotional soap scenes hard work.

The 25-year-old's character Fiz Brown has been in turmoil over the past two years due to the twists and turns in her relationship with John Stape (Graeme Hawley), who is currently in jail.

Speaking to The Mirror, she explained: "It's been very draining. Not emotionally, because I never take my work home with me, but genuinely physically exhausting.

"It's tiring having to cry continuously and I take a long time to recover from that. My face goes all red and my eyes sting for ages afterwards. I'm not a good crier!"

McAlpine added she still feels privileged to be part of the ITV1 show and has no plans to leave.

She said: "I've always been a huge Corrie fan. Being a Northern girl it was always on in my living room. And even today, I love sitting down and catching up with what's going on. This is my dream job."

The actress recently said that her controversial romance plotline has "divided the nation".
