Kenny Doughty: 'I'm not a Corrie hunk'

ITV

Coronation Street newcomer Kenny Doughty has insisted that he does not consider himself to be a "hunk".

The 30-year-old actor recently signed up to play builder Jake for an initial six-episode stint on the ITV1 drama.

Doughty's first scenes, which see Jake entering love interest Michelle Connor's (Kym Marsh) life by falling through her bathroom window, air on the programme this week.

Asked about being billed as a "hunk", the star told Hot TV: "It's really hard. I'd never ever see myself as that. That would be really weird.

"Can you imagine that? I'm strutting around Manchester going, 'Yeah, I'm a hunk'. It would be wrong on so many levels!"

Doughty recently told DS that he joined a gym to get in shape for his shirtless scenes.
