Breast op plot for Corrie's Rosie

Coronation Street's Rosie Webster is to go under the knife for a boob job in the New Year, it has been revealed.

The mischievous Weatherfield resident makes the surprise decision after pledging her future to a new job as a promotions girl, The Sun reports.

Rosie's new storyline will come as her mum Sally (Sally Whittaker) begins her battle with breast cancer on the ITV1 soap. Fans will soon see Sally telling her family that she needs a lumpectomy to remove a malignant tumour.

A source said: "The bosses are well aware of the controversy this storyline will cause. But they've researched all the implications and also looked at how it may affect teenage girl viewers and are determined to go ahead and show it - warts and all."

It is thought that Rosie, played by 19-year-old Helen Flanagan, has the cosmetic procedure paid for by her new boss at the promotions agency. Her younger sister Sophie (Brooke Vincent) is the first to uncover her plans and is "gobsmacked" by the news.

Rosie's fixation on her latest career move follows the loss of her new-found wealth after she was conned by Underworld boss Luke Strong (Craig Kelly).
