Coronation Street star Helen Worth has praised the decision to bring her screen son Nick Tilsley back to Weatherfield.

Nick returned to the Street before Christmas ahead of mum Gail's wedding to Joe McIntyre (Reece Dinsdale). He had not been seen on screen since 2004.

The character is now being played by former Footballers' Wives actor Ben Price, who took over from predecessor Adam Rickitt in the role.

Speaking to DS about the development, Worth commented: "I'm absolutely thrilled! Ben Price is gorgeous, lovely and funny. He'll be a great asset to the Platt household. As for Gail, her dearly beloved son's returned - the favourite, her first born.

"Ben came into this huge Platt history lesson. It was very funny! I was saying, 'Yes, and you married her', and he was saying, 'Who?' I'd forgotten most of it, though!"

Price has promised that his 'edgier' version of Nick will "start running the Street" in the months ahead.
