Sherrie Hewson has revealed that she is interested in returning to Coronation Street.

Speaking to Digital Spy at tonight's National Television Awards, the 59-year-old actress, who played Maureen Webster for four years from 1993, said that she would come back if the storyline was right.

"I love Coronation Street and I loved my character. I would go back to do something to do with Maureen and... well, I'm still married to Bill Webster, so I'm part of the Webster family.

"I have such wonderful memories of it. If there was some kind of storyline that would work then I would love to do it."

Hewson, who now co-presents ITV1 daytime chatshow Loose Women, added that she still watches the Weatherfield drama.

"I do try to follow and I know all of the characters. What's great about this is that I still see all [the cast]. It's so nice to be with them again, but I love Loose Women and I can't do both."
