Duffy: 'Corrie helped me cope over Gately'

Keith Duffy has revealed that his return to Coronation Street last month helped him overcome the passing of Stephen Gately.

Duffy, who plays Ciaran McCarthy on the Weatherfield soap, spoke of his remorse after his former Boyzone bandmate passed away.

"I was very bad for five weeks after he passed. I didn't feel the grieving process was progressing," he told the Daily Record.

"Then I started back at Coronation Street, which helped bring me out of it. It's still difficult. You focus on what you need to on a day-to-day basis."

Gately died while on holiday in Majorca at the age of 33.
