Keith Duffy has reaffirmed his commitment to Coronation Street following claims that he had quit the soap.

On Sunday, a tabloid report suggested that Duffy had decided to bow out from his role as womaniser Ciaran McCarthy in order to fully concentrate on his projects with Boyzone.

However, Duffy has now spoken out to insist that the speculation was 'news to him' and that he plans to remain part of the cast for the foreseeable future.

In a statement published on the show's official website, he explained: "I am happy and very excited to be working on Coronation Street.

"I've got some great storylines coming up and whilst I do have commitments to Boyzone, I have been able to combine the two things very well. I love playing Ciaran!"

Duffy signed up to return to Coronation Street last October and was seen back on screen in February. He had previously been a Weatherfield regular between 2002 and 2005. Get the Inside Soap magazine on your iPhone or iPad
