The actress, who plays Sian Powers in the soap, said that she is happy with storyline which sees her character fall in love with Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent).
She told The Sun: "I feel so privileged to have been given this story - especially because I'm young and I've only been here for a year.
"It was more nerve-wracking than kissing a boy on set, because we were so conscious of making it look real and natural."
She added: "Afterwards, when we came off set, Brooke said, 'Sacha, I'm not being funny but you've got really soft lips'. I said, 'Oh my God, I was going to say the same to you!'"
Parkinson also revealed that she was inspired by Anna Friel's groundbreaking scene in a 1994 episode of Brookside.
"Everyone remembers Anna Friel's lesbian kiss on Brookside, and she's my idol for this story. I would pay a million pounds to have the success she's had," she said.
