Former EastEnders star Todd Carty has revealed that he would consider accepting a part in rival soap Coronation Street.

Along with roles in Grange Hill and The Bill, the actor is best known for playing Walford's Mark Fowler between 1990 and 2003.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News about the possibility of a Weatherfield stint, Carty commented: "You never say never in this business."

Musing over who he could play, the 46-year-old continued: "Maybe some young cockney wide boy who comes up, you've had a few of them in the past - maybe a new generation of London lad that comes in. Anyway, give them my number just in case!"

Carty recently signed up for a role in a touring production of the stage musical Spamalot.

Of the dancing required for his new part, he said: "Well, I'm no twinkle toes but I've done enough musical theatre and enough panto to get by."

Carty was a contestant on ITV1's Dancing On Ice last year, becoming a hit with fans thanks to his comedy routines.
