'Road to Coronation Street' nabs 852k

BBC Four's The Road to Coronation Street was the second most-watched multichannel programme on Thursday, early viewing figures show.

Starring David Dawson, the anniversary edition drama tracked the very start of the serial in 1960, and appealed to 852k (3.8%) at 9pm.

EastEnders won the biggest audience, with 7.89m (37.9%) for BBC One at 7.30pm, and 931k (4.8%) for BBC Three at 10pm.

Meanwhile, Coronation Street itself did poorly, with 7.09m (30.2%) tuning in for Kylie's theft at 8.30pm.

Emmerdale had 6.22m (32.3%) and 6.35m (28.2%) at 7pm and 8pm respectively.

Hollyoaks grabbed 1.06m (6%) at 6.30pm, then E4's first look fetched 295k (1.5%). Elsewhere, Doctors averaged 1.33m (20.3%) at 1.45pm for an episode titled 'Paradise Lost'.

Neighbours brought in 774k (11.7%) at 1.30pm, and 1.16m (8.5%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away logged 822k (5.1%) at 6pm, after which Fiver's first look drew 405k (2.3%) at 6.30pm.
