Coronation Street star Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone Dobbs, has revealed that he is "very sad" to see Vicky Binns leave the soap.

The actress, who has played Halsall's on-screen wife Molly Dobbs for five years, announced that she was leaving the show in May. Halsall admitted that it will be a difficult time for both his character and himself as an actor.

According to PA, he said: "I feel very sad actually. This is how it is in Coronation Street. Characters come in. They are loved by millions and they do leave as well.

"It will be a tough time for Tyrone - he lost his father and he'll be losing his wife as well. But for me personally as an actor, I've spent five years working with Vicky, I will miss her an awful lot but I know she'll go on and do great things anyway."

Molly's exit is rumoured to coincide with the Street's upcoming tram crash.
