When Eddie hears that Gary has shoved Anna during an argument over his recent unwillingness to leave the house, he's furious and wastes no time before confronting his son.
As they row, Eddie angrily brands Gary a coward for his behaviour, but it's clear that he's pushed the wrong button when he's punched by the soldier.
