Corrie star hints at Maria, Chris troubles

Coronation Street star Will Thorp has hinted that Maria Connor could eventually see the sinister side of his bad boy character Chris Gray.

In next week's episodes, Maria (Samia Smith) enjoys a successful date with Chris but is soon left with a dilemma over whether to take things slowly or spend the night with him.

Fans are already aware of Chris's true colours as he was violent in his turbulent marriage to Cheryl (Holly Quin-Ankrah), leaving her scared of what he was capable of.

Speaking to Soaplife about Chris and Maria's relationship, Thorp explained: "He genuinely likes her. He feels comfortable with her and has no plans to be nasty to her. Not at the moment, anyway."

He continued: "Everyone's warned her off him, but she's only ever experienced Chris being nice. And there's no reason to think he's going to hurt her.

"At the moment, she wants them to move slowly and he's letting her be in charge. That won't last, though…"

Samia Smith recently admitted that while Maria thinks she can fix bad boys, "she's never fixed any of them".
