Charlie Condou, who left the soap in 2008, confirmed that he was reprising his role as Marcus last month. It was previously claimed that the couple would wed, in what will be the ITV soap's first civil partnership.
"There are eventful times ahead for Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) as his old flame Marcus Dent returns to the cobbles," the Manchester serial's official website announced today. "Marcus, arrives back in Weatherfield and the relationship between him and Sean is rekindled."
However, the wedding plot remains unconfirmed.
Condou will begin filming again in March.
