Coronation Street star Ben Price has revealed that he doesn't want viewers to side with his character Nick Tilsley.

The actor, who took over the role in 2009 when the character returned to Weatherfield, admitted that he doesn't think the audience should support Nick in trying to steal Leanne Barlow from new husband Peter.

"I would hope that they never side with Nick, I don't want them cheering for the guy at all!" he told Inside Soap magazine. "I think the audience enjoys seeing what Nick's going to do next.

"Viewers love to be in on a secret, so they like the fact that Leanne had an affair with Nick before the accident, and Peter doesn't know about it."

He added: "It would take a really strong, clever and sexy woman to get Nick. I don't think there's anyone on the Street like that who could take his breath away - but I think it would be fantastic if someone new came in and gave him a real run for his money. And of course, there's always the possibility Nick will never find the right woman for him."
