The actress - Maria Connor in the ITV soap - split from husband Matthew last month. Reports have suggested that she is now dating co-star Will Thorp (Chris Gray).
Smith is currently working on an upcoming storyline which will see Maria put in danger when Frank Foster (Andrew Lancel) tries to rape her.
"Samia's a workaholic and is telling everyone this plot couldn't have come at a better time," a source told The Sun. "She's throwing herself into it."
They added: "She isn't short of tears for this storyline but is relishing the emotional challenge as well as looking forward to her future with Will."
