Corrie actress wants Leanne, Peter future

Jane Danson has admitted that she wants her Coronation Street character Leanne Barlow to have a happy ending with husband Peter.

Fans of the ITV1 soap will see things start to go wrong for Leanne in the coming days after Peter (Chris Gascoyne) discovers that she cheated on him with Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) last year.

However, rather than confront Leanne straight away, Peter bides his time and waits until the day of their wedding blessing to get even.

In an interview with Holy Soap, Danson confirmed that she is hoping Leanne and Peter find a way to get through their latest relationship crisis.

Asked whether Nick and Leanne's affair is over, the actress replied: "Who knows? I'd like to think so, but all the scripts have been quite conflicting so I have absolutely no idea to be honest. I'm hoping that's the way forward and that's put to bed for a bit.

"Once all this has happened there's always history, so at any point Peter and Carla could flare up, and Nick and Leanne could flare up. But I'm hoping there's a bit of happiness for a while because I like [Leanne and Peter] together. I'm keeping my fingers crossed."

Leanne and Peter's big day airs on Monday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV1.
