Earlier this month, it emerged that Jim - played by Charles Lawson - will return to the cobbles in March with a surprising suggestion up his sleeve.
According to The Sun, Jim's unexpected idea is that he should purchase the pub - hoping to then hand it over to ex-wife Liz (Beverley Callard) in an attempt to win her back. Liz already manages the business for son Steve and daughter-in-law Becky.
It is thought that Jim makes his offer as Steve and Becky are experiencing money troubles, meaning that his proposal could prove tempting.
A Weatherfield insider told the newspaper: "Jim is intent on winning Liz back once and for all. He sees the pub as the way to her heart. Liz might be the manager but it is Steve's name above the door. Steve is desperate for cash and might take his dad's money."
Jim was last seen on screen late last year - but his presence led to some sinister behaviour from Liz's new boyfriend Owen Armstrong (Ian Puleston-Davies).
Meanwhile, Liz - currently on holiday in Spain - is due to depart the cobbles later this year as Beverley Callard has decided to bow out of the role.
