Coronation Street stars have turned up to auction to see their portraits go under the hammer.

The 22 black-and-white shots were taken by Corrie photographer Rob Evans, and altogether raised £8,600 for charity, reports the Manchester Evening News.

"We wanted to do something different and to get Rob's work out there - he's an exceptional photographer," said Katherine Kelly, who plays barmaid Becky McDonald.

Soap stars in attendance included William Roache, who plays Ken Barlow, Jennie McAlpine, who plays Fiz, Michael Le Vell, best known as Kevin, and Paula Lane, who plays Kylie.

The highest bid was for a shot of Ken Barlow, standing amid the rubble after the Weatherfield tram crash.

Charcoal portraits of Corrie stars by Eddie Windass actor Steve Huison also went on sale this month. Get the Inside Soap magazine on your iPhone or iPad
